AmeCon 2010 – Event and Photos
0
My first post about Photography (at last!) — As a divergence from my computing side, I have recently picked up my old dreams and started taking photos as a hobby. About a year ago Naomi, very kindly, bought me a Canon 450D camera which has been running around with me for the whole time. Over the past six or so months I have had many chances to attend events, and try and start taking photos properly, with the advice and help from many other pro-photographers (name dropping a friend called Foxy here! – http://www.foxseye.com) I have been getting some shots I am starting to like!
AmeCon is a Japanese Culture Convention, concentrating on Anime (Japanese Animation) and Manga (Japanese Comics), of which I have been a proud member of the committee since 2007. There I have helped out in many different areas of running the event and technical side, which meant that this event would have been the hardest to get any sort of photos from.
With the help of many of my friends, I was able to dash off for short periods of time to places close by to where I was stationed, and in one case at the very end, someone very kindly stuck about to have a photoshoot!
Many thanks to: Helen, Neil, Gareth, Kareem, Martin, Foxy, Philip, Matt (Blasteh), Matt (Jenks), Lauren, and finally Emi for being the victim model who agreed to sit around during the final stages of AmeCon to have a shoot!
We were lucky enough to be able to access the Keele Hall Gardens on the Monday afternoon after everyone had gone, there was a wonderful sunset, bringing such wonderful light to the grounds. We eventually found a stone mooring point, which worked out very well for us, and we started shooting from there.
You can see the results of this shot, and other shots from the day at Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mystcb/, or my DA: http://mystcb.deviantart.com/gallery/#Cosplay
Thank you once again to everyone that helped!
