About
So, you wanted to find out more about me, and have come to this page. Well hopefully I will not bore you will to much detail, but I hope you enjoy what you read!
I was born in Kingston-upon-Thames, many years ago, where I also lived most of my life. I went through the usual local schools, Alexandra Infants School, St. Pauls C of E Junoir School, before taking up my secondary school life over in Teddington School, Middlesex.
While at Teddington, I achived 10 GCSE’s in subjects ranging from Science, Maths, Languages, Drama, Business Studies, Electronics and a few others too. At the same time I was able to get my “Level Two” in Sailing and Grade 1 in Fencing.
Using these GCSE’s I made it into Richmond-upon-Thames College, where I was to study Computing, Maths, Physics and Electronics. There I also started up a game called “Faereal”, a multi-user text based role playing game, and had a dabble at my first Linux based servers.
After college, I was able to get a job in Computer Exchange, a local store which dealt with Games and Computer Hardware, old and new, for trade and sale. I was able to experiement with computer components and enabled me to look deeper into the latest technology of the time.
From here, I was offered a job at Surrey County Council, working with the council systems to repair computers and printers, moving onto a rapid response team that dealt with problems that could be fixed remotely, before finally landing in the Client and Directories Team, which worked on Workstation Builds, Application Deployment and general system operations. The role enabled me to take a wider administration view on the whole network, and intergraded systems around the council, and gave me a little room to start experiementing with new software and hardware. Before long, the cuts in Council’s budgets, and reworking of the system, I decided to look elsewhere for a job.
Blue Sky Hosting came along and I joined the team, working as a Support Engineer, getting my hands into the datacentre’s and managed hosting environment. Over the past 4 years, I was able to bring into the company many new bits of technology, including VMware which has enabled Blue Sky to work with Cloud Based Services, and worked with the current systems to reduce the footprint that we have inside these over populated datacentres. Recently I was promoted to the “Manager of Infrastucture and Security”, to manage and run the systems. Bringing us to where I am now!
