Minamicon 17 – Post Con Report
The clocks tick, and 9 years on, I am back in Southampton for the UK’s (and possibly Europe’s) longest running Anime Convention – Minamicon 17!
As you are probably aware, at a number of Anime Conventions I assist and run the DDR:UK Games Room, which usually takes up most of my time at the event. Thankfully I had a very persistent Street-Angel and a patient SuzuNyan bug me for most of the convention to run off with them and take some photos.
Annoyingly, I was in a rush at the time as the Games Room was being packed up, and I wasn’t really meant to be out taking photos! I did leave most of the team working hard to pack up everything, ready for me to take back home. I am very thankful for all the help I do get from the team, I wouldn’t be doing this at all if I didn’t have them hanging about helping out, all off their own back. However that is another story. One of the major problems I have with the photos I took, was just down to silly, normal things which anyone taking photos should have thought about. The silly and normal things which I completely forgot! A number of the photos were washed out, forgetting the sun was quite low in the day, and a number of my lenses do not have a hood. This has had an effect on the colour within the picture, which on attempts to try and fix, just made the skin colour look off and odd! A second personal annoyance is that I was thinking so much about the Games Room, I forgot to try a number of shots and poses that I had been saving up for a situation like this. In hindsight, all of this could have been sorted and dealt with however, in the case of this weekend, I am just happy that I was given another opportunity to take some photos! My thanks go out to you both, especially for the persistence that got me out of the Games Room!
The costumes which each of them wore are as follows:
